DEEP ROOTS IN THE MACEDON RANGES
The land where Macedon Nursery & Garden Supplies stands today has been home to a nursery since 1872.
Originally the Macedon State Nursery, this site supplied trees and plants that shaped the landscapes of Victoria for over a century. Under the guidance of Joseph Firth (1885–1922), it became a leader in conservation, responsible for propagating native and exotic species that still define the region today.
Even after the devastation of the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires, the nursery remained an integral part of the community, rebuilding alongside the locals it served.
Today, Macedon Nursery continues that legacy—a place where gardeners, landscapers, and the broader community come for expert advice, quality plant stock, and the right materials to bring their landscapes to life.
